My Two Grandmothers, 1991
Video Installation (occupies approximately 4.8 meters by 6 meters), 4-channel video, 31-minute cycle, 3/4-inch videotape re-mastered onto Digital Betacam. Video “quilt” (organza, silk and cotton fabric 1.8 meters by 2.4 meters with video projection material, fabric and photo construction). Twenty-five 35 cm video monitors, four VHS players, one switcher to run the installation. Garden of sandstone rocks, monitors wrapped in saris, and plants.

The installation brings together a re-imagining of personal and public history within a site constructed from actual fabric, video, still photographs, sandstone rocks and plants.
